Bumper Bank Holiday for Pier

Essex’s best family attraction enjoyed a bumper
bank holiday with the busiest weekend of the year so far.
Clacton Pier was voted tops in the county in the Muddy
Stilettos Awards 2024 and only days later families flocked to the landmark to
enjoy three days of fun.
It was wall to wall sunshine on Saturday and
Sunday and although Monday brought showers, the attraction remained busy with
people making the most of the break.
The pier’s second free fireworks display pulled
in the crowds as pyrotechnics fans packed the seafront and the head of the
attraction where the extravaganza was set off.
Rides remained open later into the night and free
live music added to the entertainment.
Director Billy Ball said that it was just what
was needed.
“At last we got some decent weather – and on a
bank holiday, which is the ideal combination,” he added.
“Families turned out in force and it was without
doubt our busiest weekend of the year to date. It was great to see so many
smiley faces enjoying everything we have to offer.
“It came a couple of days after we had won the
Muddy Stilettos Award for the best family attraction in Essex. We beat
Colchester Zoo into second place which is a magnificent achievement and a real
accolade for us.
“I would like to thank all those people who voted
for us and won us the prize. We now wait to see if we get through to the
national finalists.”
Mr Ball said there has been a further significant
boost for both the town and the pier.
Clacton Beach was named one of the best in the UK
by the team at outdoor brand Millets after analysing Google reviews.
It came fourth in England and Wales based on
water quality, the temperature of the sea, beach facilities and average parking
costs for a four hour stay.
Clacton had a rating of 4.5 stars and a total
score of 7.88 out of ten.
“This really is tremendous news for us and the
town, and backs up what we already know that Clacton and the immediate area has
so much to offer our visitors,” he added.
“It is so pleasing to see us getting that outside recognition and can only help us in our goal to bring back the glory days of the resort.”
